Project Description

Food is one of the few ways cultures can be shared through a language barrier. "Bap and Brush" is a project born out of a passion for sharing the rich culture of Korean cuisine, through a lens that makes cooking approachable, engaging, and culturally enlightening. This website is designed to break down the barriers to culinary exploration, encouraging users to dive into the art of Korean cooking with ease and excitement.

At the heart of "Bap and Brush" lies a nostalgic journey back to the simplicity and joy of childhood experiences with food. Inspired by the colorful and whimsical world of the beloved cooking video game Cooking Mama, this project brings Korean dishes to life through vibrant illustrations and interactive elements that aim to create a playful and immersive learning environment. By avoiding traditional food photography in favor of stylized illustrations, the website seeks to eliminate the intimidation factor that often accompanies the pursuit of culinary perfection, making every attempt in the kitchen a success in its own right. The UI/UX design of "Bap and Brush" is crafted to evoke a sense of wonder and nostalgia, utilizing a bright and saturated color palette that captures the imagination and optimism associated with childhood experiences. Every click reveals the story behind a dish, its cultural significance, and the traditions it upholds, enriching the user's cooking experience with layers of historical depth. "Bap and Brush" is not just a cooking website; it's an invitation to embark on a culinary adventure, to explore new flavors, and to create memories that resonate with the warmth and richness of Korean culture. It's a project that reflects my journey—from a young enthusiast inspired by a game, to a creator aiming to share their love for Korean cuisine with the world—hoping to inspire others to explore, learn, and connect through the universal joy of cooking.
